A Champaign woman who admitted stealing from a fellow resident of the Eden Supportive Living Center has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Linda Johnson, 60, who last lived at the center at 222 N. State St., C, pleaded guilty to theft over $500 for stealing from a fellow resident in December. In addition to her prison sentence, she was ordered to repay him $1,017.
Assistant State's Attorney Troy Lozar said the victim is handicapped and in a wheelchair. She was pushing him at the Savoy Wal-Mart on Dec. 17 when she got his debit card. She then used it at several stores, buying merchandise for herself.
Lozar said Johnson had prior convictions for credit card fraud, forgery, obstructing justice and domestic battery.
